Many clients and marketers are so distracted by the buzz in the market on what is trending now with online that they forget to look at the big picture. A sound Integrated Marketing strategy does not focus on one media platform, it incorporates many – the same message advertised to your target customers across multiple media platforms.
We are often asked the same question when planning – are TV and radio on their way out? Our answer is no. TV and radio still play an important role in reaching mass markets. In fact, we recently conducted a market-wide survey of retail customers that showed TV and radio are still the number one and two mediums people are recalling, hearing, and/or seeing advertisements. There are some online advertising choices that are on the move up with consumer advertising recall, but you might be surprised at the difference in percentage recall for search, streaming video or audio, and social media networks.
So next time you are sucked into the advertising buzz and banter, remember to identify where your customers are really consuming media. The answer may surprise you.
