How the Mobile Experience is Affecting Holiday Sales

And the results are in!

Cyber Monday was the largest online shopping day in history, with $6.59 billion on online sales, according to Adobe! Online revenue increased by 16.8% from Cyber Monday in 2016. And not surprisingly, mobile online retail sales broke records as well with 47% of mobile retail site visits on Cyber Monday and accounted for 33% of revenue.

The reason for increase in mobile shopping behavior could be attributed to retailers improving and optimizing the mobile experience. Consumers are becoming savvier online shoppers, they know more about the products and prices than ever before. Adobe also attributes the increase on mobile sales to Millennials.

The most popular shopping day for in-store was Black Friday, with 77 million consumers, followed by Small Business Saturday with 55 million consumers, according to the National Retail Federation. The average spend per person over the Black Friday weekend was $335.47. And the biggest spenders were older Millennials (25-34 year-olds) at an average of $491.52 per person.
